China Chemical Geology and Mine Bureau (hereinafter called the Bureau) is a professional institution engaged in prospecting and development of chemical minerals and other solid and liquid minerals. Since it is established in 1973, the Bureau have made many outstanding achievements in chemical minerals prospecting, engineering investigation and design, chemical mineral resources development, combinations between mine and fertilizer and between mine and chemical Industry, and science and technology progress, have provided abundant chemical mineral resources for chemical industry, chemical fertilizer, agriculture chemical and so on, have made great contributions to guarantee the development of chemical industry, the stable growth of agriculture production and the safety of grains of our country.

    The Bureau has 16 geological prospecting institutes and 1 geological research institute located in 16 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) respectively with nearly 10000 staff and workers, and possesses more than 1500 sets of various technical equipments. The Bureau and its subsidiary institutes have certificates and qualifications of various geological prospecting, geological survey, engineering investigation, topography mapping and engineering mapping, rock and ore analysis and test, foundation construction and geological disasters assessment and prevention. It has fulfilled 3million meters of drilling and more than 20000 meters of exploring opening (tunneling) in total , has completed more than 600 geological exploration reports on more than 20 kinds of minerals such as phosphorus, sulfur, potash, boron, arsenic, fluorite, mirabilite, barite, celestite, chemical limestone, rutile, trona, alunite, bentonite etc., has measured major chemical mineral reserves prepared for mine design and construction: phosphorus more than 2 billion ton, pyrite nearly 800 million ton, boron more than 6 million ton, barite more than 70 million ton, fluorite over 5 million ton, mirabilite over 4.3 billion ton and chemical limestone more than 1.4 billion ton. It has constructed nearly 100 chemical mine enterprises of middle-large scale such as Qinghai Potassium Fertilizer, Yunnan Kunyang Phosphorus Mine, Guizhou Kaiyang Phosphorus Mine, Hubei Jingxiang Phosphorus Mine, Guizhou Wengfu Phosphorus Mine, Sichuan Qingping Phosphorus Mine and Guangdong Yunfu Pyrite mine etc. It has made a lot of new break through and innovation in geological basic theory, metallogenic theory, metallogenic law, mining and dressing technology research, and has won 468 awards for science and technology progress, mineral-prospecting and geological achievements at ministerial and provincial levels. There are 4 geologists who have won the award of“ Li Siguang Prize for Field Geological Worker”, the highest prize in geological circle in China, 3 young geologists have won“ the Silver Hammer Prize”, a geosciences and technology award for youth geological workers.
